The Fault in Our Stars

“You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world...but you do have some say in who hurts you. I like my choices.”
John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

This was one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful storylines I have ever seen. Unfortunately, I have not yet got round to reading the book (which is a MUST and is on my to-do list!!!!!) But on Thursday, I went to see the film with one of my friends.

Being truthful, I have never cried at film so much (and I have cried at a fair few films) - it wasn't just silent tears, it was sobbing cries. Not only did the film make me cry - but it also made me laugh. Never have I been in a cinema where almost everyone has been reduced to tears. At the end, every girl seemed to be congregating in the toilets to touch up their make-up and to calm down.

'Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel's other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.'
The story takes such an unexpected twist which makes it all the more heart-breaking. It's so beautiful and made me look at things from a whole new perspective. I would love to have a relationship as strong, powerful and beautiful as Hazel's and Gus'. The story deals with an issue that touches the lives of so many people, provoking deep emotions in people. It also made me re-evaluate things in my life and made me realise that life is too short to be caught up with things that are irrelevant. It really pulled on my heart strings. I really recommend The Fault in Our Stars be it the book or the film.

But you have to make the most of the time you've got, whether that is a long time or a very small amount of time. Don't waste a single second - especially not over stupid things that are not important.
